Elizabeth Shaw
Counsellor and Psychotherapist

"Life is often confusing, painful and overwhelming.  I offer a safe, non-judgemental and compassionate space, in which to explore these feelings.  If you need someone to talk to, I am here to listen."
What can therapy do for me?
Psychotherapy allows you to understand your own life experiences at a deeper level, developing a different perspective on the struggles you face.  Whether you are in crisis and need support or are experiencing a general feeling of dissatisfaction, therapy can help.  Many people find that they are trapped in repeating patterns of behaviour that they can't seem to change. Therapy can allow you the opportunity to notice those patterns and make a conscious choice about how to manage things differently.  You may find that you are struggling with your relationships and need help negotiating them.  By choosing therapy you are choosing to make a change.
What can I expect?
Each therapy session lasts for one hour.  In the initial session I may ask some questions to establish what has brought you to therapy and how you would like to move forward. This session will give you the opportunity to decide if you would like to work with me. Subsequent sessions will provide you with space to explore.  You will not be asked endless questions and there is no expectation about what you will discuss or even how much you will talk. This time is yours.
